"TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The local government of Banyuwangi regency, East Java, is actively promoting their tourism through an Android-based application. The Banyuwangi Regent, Abdullah Azwar Anas, said that such promotion is relevant with the market condition and that Indonesia is one of five countries with the most smartphone users.
"The use of smartphone will continue to increase, including those using Android operation system. Thus, we launch an Android-based application for tourism in Banyuwangi regency," said Anas between the signing of cooperation with Telkomsel in Surabaya, on Friday.
Still according to Anas, almost half of the internet users are youth which is also one of player in the tourism sectors. Anas referred to the data provided by Statistics Indonesia regarding the number of internet users in Indonesia that reaches 71.19 million. "Most of them accessing internet through smartphones," the regent said, adding that he wishes the tourism sector will continue develop and supports economy in Banyuwangi.
"We currently also developing the Red Island Beach, Boom Beach, and Green Bay. Step by step, other natural and cultural tourism will be developed," said Anas."
